Ch. 5 - Operating Systems

posted Jan 18, 2015, 8:25 PM by Jon Hamlin

The operating system (OS) controls almost all functions on a computer. In this chapter, you will learn about the components, functions, and terminology related to the, Windows XP, and Windows 7 operating systems.

Chapter 5 is important because operating systems control most of the functions of a computer.  Most software requires an OS to operate.  Many of the common computer problems that technicians must solve are related to the OS and can be solved with the knowledge and skills developed in Chapter 5

Please see Chapter 5, read the chapter material, and complete the assignment (Questions 1-75)

Chapter 4 - Preventative Maintenance

posted Jan 11, 2015, 9:03 PM by Jon Hamlin

Now that you know how to take the computer apart and put it back, it's time to learn how to avoid running into any problems that would require you to do that in the future.

This chapter focuses on Preventative Maintenance and Troubleshooting. Key skills you will need to diagnose and repair systems as efficiently as possible.

The 50 question Chapter assignment is due by the start of class next Monday.

Hi Block 5 class.

Sorry the test did not work for you yesterday. I am not sure what happened but either way, I have activated if for you today (Tuesday) and you can write the test during your Blk. 5 period.

Please continue with you Chapter 3 assignment once the test is complete.

I hope you are all having a good week. Today I learned how to roll over an unconscious person with a neck injury and tomorrow, I get to practice making bandages for people with gaping head wounds! Pretty exciting stuff!
